Introduction

Cyclope's timeline is a huge piece of work.
He gathered all the elements available to us from all sources (the series, derivative works, production documents) and he took on the task of putting together a coherent timeline for the series.

His base assumption: Out with the official dates put forward by the creators; there are too many pieces that discredit them. Code Lyoko actually took place from 2004...to 2007! This theory will be demonstrated here.

So obviously, for this theory to work, Cyclope openly admitted that some elements in the series are clearly false. (However, seeing as the Prequel starts by telling us that Jeremy is in 8th grade... That doesn't quite add up.) From there, using all the pieces he'd collected, he established a timeline that's as accurate as can be.

Of course, the result may seem pretty fanciful, but it was worth documenting. So I hope you enjoy reading the result of this great amount of work. Bearing in mind that it's still only fanmade, so it can't be considered official.
But since the official timeline doesn't quite make sense, well, why not!

Backstory (1974 to 2003)

1974: Creation of Project Carthage
1980/1981: Aelita is born
September 1985: Jim arrives at Kadic
=> Jim says he's been working at the school for 20 years in Holiday in the Fog (2005)
Christmas 1985: Aelita receives Mister Pück
=> (CL Chronicles Aelita would have lost her mother in '85
End of December 1985: Two men in black take Anthea Hopper hostage
During 1988: 1) Aelita and Waldo arrive at the Hermitage. 2) Suzanne Hertz and Waldo arrive at Kadic
=> (CL Chronicles The Nameless City)
Summer 1991: Yumi and William are born
=> (Yumi and William are 14 in seasons 1-2 so '91 or '88-'89)
9 June 1992: Jeremy is born
=> 12 or 13 years old in season 1? Birthday in June season 2
Summer 1992: Ulrich, Odd, Elisabeth, Nicolas and Herb are born
=> 13 years old in seasons 1 and 2; 14 in 3?
1994: Milly and Tamiya are born
2 May 1994: Anthea is recorded in a video by the men in black at their HQ
=> (CL Chronicles Book 2)
Monday 6 June 1994: Virtualisation of Waldo Schaeffer and Aelita
After Tuesday 7 June 1994: Suzanne Hertz takes over Waldo's teaching role
=> (CL Chronicles)
1995: Hiroki and Johnny are born
September 2003: Ulrich arrives at Kadic

Aelita says in #78 Lab Rat that she doesn't remember when she was born, so knowing that and how she was 13 when she and her father were virtualised on the 6th of June 1994, she was born in 1981 but we don't know which month or day, and we don't believe what the doctors said in episode #37 Common Interest about Aelita being 12.

She was 4 when she got Mister Pück, so it was Christmas 1985.

Also, in the flashback in #82 Distant Memory (which seems to take place after Christmas 1985), we see Anthea taken hostage by 2 men in black, which could have happened towards the end of December (not long before New Year's).

Yumi was born in 1991 given that the start of season 1 takes place in September 2005 and she was 14 years old. The biggest inconsistency comes from episode #78 Lab Rat where it's said that her birthday was two days ago, which is completely false because if that were the case, she would have celebrated it during season 2 since she was 14 at the start of season 1. We also don't believe what the doctors say in episode #58 The Pretender, where they don't get her exact age right.

As for William, given that we don't know his exact age and the information is never brought up, we can deduce that he was born around the same time as Yumi and they're about the same age.

Ulrich, Odd, Elisabeth, Nicolas and Herb, same as for Yumi and William, the difference being they were born 1 year after.

As for Jeremy, seeing what happened in season 2 and not believing what he said about his age in episode #84 Guilded Missile, he's the same age as Ulrich, Odd, Aelita, Nicolas, Herb and Elisabeth.

Ms Hertz seems to have taken over Waldo's teaching role the day after his departure, given that the principal didn't hire a new science teacher in June, knowing there were only 21 days left until the end of the school year.

Ulrich says in #58 The Pretender he was hazed when he was in 6th grade (according to the episode script), so he arrived at Kadic 1 year before Jeremy activated the SC.

The prequel (September to October 2004)

Friday 3 September 2004: Jeremy and Yumi arrive at Kadic
Saturday 9 October 2004: Supercomputer reactivated (Error, 8th grade student)
Monday 18 October 2004: Odd arrives at Kadic, the group is formed after the 1st trip back in time
Tuesday 19 October 2004: Aelita deactivates the 1st tower, 1st return trip, XANA is discovered

Jeremy arrives at Kadic on the 3rd of September 2004 (first day of the school year) and one night decides to visit the abandoned factory by the Seine to look for scap to build his miniature robots.

Aelita says she spent 10 years as computer software, which means Jeremy reactivated the Supercomputer on Saturday 9/10/2004.

Odd arrived at Kadic at least one week after Jeremy and reactivated the SC (after possibly being expelled from his previous school), and Jeremy says in the library scene that he discovered the return to the past program a few days after reactivating the SC.

Thursday 15 December: End of #25 Code Earth and start of #26 False Start
Friday 16 December: Remainder of #26 False Start

Milly and Tamiya are in 6th grade, it seems logical they wouldn't be at Kadic during the prequel set 1 year earlier, so the beginning of the school year was on Monday the 5th of September.

For episode #1 Teddygozilla, knowing that season 1 takes place from September to December, I deduced that one episode must have taken place in the same month that school started, so I chose to put it right at the end of the month, and because there's a start-of-school prom, it should have been on a Friday evening and not another weekday.

The holiday period in #3 Holiday in the Fog is All Saints' Day, otherwise the heroes would have changed classes in the next episode (which isn't the case).

The end of the All Saints' Day holidays was on Thursday the 3rd of November, so that must be when #4 Log Book takes place.

The end of episode #6 Cruel Dilemma (before the return trip) is Tuesday the 8th, given that Yumi's alarm clock showed it was 2:30 in the morning when her phone rang, and in the French version she says, "I wouldn't mind a little nap before class," so the start of the episode must have been on Monday the 7th.

Friday the 11th of November was Remembrance Day, so there shouldn't be any classes on that day.

In #13 Just in Time, Odd says in the French version, "We have 20 minutes to materialise in the maths classroom, or we can kiss our weekend goodbye!" so it was Friday the 18th of November.

Episode #14 The Trap takes place the day after the previous episode, given that the heroes are celebrating their 1 year anniversary of meeting Aelita (which can't be right because the prequel takes place in October 2004) and the heroes have no classes in the afternoon, so it's a Saturday.

Episode #15 Laughing Fit takes place 3 days after that because Ulrich says Yumi has been sulking for 2 days, which means her parents started fighting on Sunday the 23rd of November. The "Romeo and Juliet" play should be on a Wednesday morning given that Jeremy and Odd go to the factory in the morning and the play is scheduled for that evening, so classes must have been cancelled.

Episode #21 Zero Gravity Zone can only take place on Saturday the 3rd of December as the entire school seems to be in attendance at the 8th grade inter-school soccer final, and there are no afternoon classes, otherwise why would all the students at Kadic come to watch the game.

The start of #23 Rock Bottom? takes place on Wednesday the 7th of December: Ulrich talks about the upcoming 3-day weekend and Ms Hertz says the following day (Thursday the 8th) at the end of her class, "And don't forget Monday's quiz on seismic phenomena." Yumi says in the French version, "Great, we'll meet at 4 to go shopping," which means they only had morning classes and the weekend must last from Thursday at noon to Sunday evening. The origin of this long weekend could be a teacher strike, but this is unlikely as Ms Hertz and Jim aren't participating in one. So the cancelled classes could be due to some sort of event in the city (like a flea market), because when that sort of event takes place, there are no classes because the roads are closed.

The start of #25 Code Earth happens on Wednesday the 14th given that when Jeremy calls Yumi, she's still dressed, so it must be before midnight (which means Yumi doesn't have to get annoyed at Jeremy for calling her late at night).

Season 2 (January to June 2006)

Monday 23 January: #27 New Order: Aelita and William arrive at Kadic
Thursday 26 or Friday 27 January: #28 Unchartered Territory: Yumi "You haven't even been here for a week yet"
Monday 30 to Tuesday 31 January: #29 Exploration
Tuesday 7 to Wednesday 8 February: #30 A Great Day: Shown at the bottom of the screen, see also Valentine's Day
Friday 10 and Saturday 11 February: #31 Mister Pück
Tuesday 14 February: #32 Saint Valentine's Day: Takes place on a Tuesday
Début March: #33 Final Mix
Monday 27 March: #34 Missing Link
Thursday 30 and Friday 31 March: #35 The Chips Are Down
Saturday 29 April: #36 Marabounta
Tuesday 2 May: #37 Common Interest
From #38 Temptation to #48 Is Anybody Out There?: May/June 2006
Thursday 8 June: start of #49 Franz Hopper
Friday 9 June: Jeremy's birthday
Saturday 10 June: Jeremy calls his dad to change schools
Sunday 11 June: Michael Belpois comes to Kadic
Saturday 17 to Sunday 18 June: #50 Contact
Thursday 29 June: #51 Revelation
Friday 30 June: #52 The Key

Episode #27 New Order must take place on Monday the 23rd of January because #32 Saint Valentine's Day happens in mid-February.

In #28 Unchartered Territory, Yumi says Aelita hasn't been there at Kadic for a full week, so the episode must take place about 3-4 days after she comes to Kadic. It must be Thursday the 26th or Friday the 27th of January because when Aelita is in the cafeteria, Rosa asks her, "Franks and beans or steak and potatoes?" which is from the lunch menu, and Jeremie, Ulrich and Odd have class with Ms Hertz in the afternoon.

For episode #29 Exploration, I deduced that it could take place a few days after the previous episode, so I made it from Monday the 30th to Tuesday the 31st of January.

The start of #30 A Great Day is on a Tuesday (and not Monday as written at the bottom of the screen when Jeremy says it's 3AM), so it's Tuesday the 7th of February.

For episode #31 Mister Pück, we can say it happens on Friday the 10th of February because when the heroes go to the Hermitage it must be lunchtime, because this is the best time of day for them to leave the school without being caught.

Episode #32 Saint Valentine's Day happens on Valentine's Day and it's a Tuesday, so it's Tuesday the 14th of February 2006.

For episode #33 Final Mix, the Paris holidays (zone C) were from 4-19 February, which doesn't line up with the previous episode because Kadic shouldn't have had classes that day.

For episode #34 Missing Link, at private schools, class photos are taken around March/April and not the end of September/start of October like at public schools. Also, class photos tend to be taken on a Monday.

For episode #35 The Chips Are Down, the zone C holidays were from 8-23 April, and Mr Fumet says at the end of his class, "See you next week," so it must have taken place on Thursday the 30th and Friday the 31st of March.

For episode #36 Marabounta, Odd says he loves Saturdays because there are no classes in the afternoon. Elisabeth says William has been at Kadic for 3 months, which puts the date at Saturday the 29th of April 2006.

For episode #37 Common Interest, one thing we know for sure is that it couldn't have taken place on Monday the 1st of May because it was a Labour Day (a public holiday), so it must be Tuesday the 2nd of May.

As for episodes #38 Temptation to #48 Is Anybody Out There?, there are no hints about the timeline.

Episode #49 Franz Hopper is an episode that takes place over the span of 3 days. The beginning should be Thursday the 8th of June because when Jeremy phones Yumi, she's not wearing pyjamas (which means it's likely before midnight). The next day is his birthday, Friday the 9th of June, which coincides with the date in the backstory part. The day after that has a scene early in the morning, so Saturday the 10th of June and they have morning classes. Jeremy calls his dad and asks him to come pick him up and he says he won't be there until the next day, so the end of the episode is on Sunday the 11th of June.

The start of #50 Contact happens on Saturday the 17th of June given that Jeremy tells Yumi and Ulrich he's been working on decoding Waldo's diary for 1 week. Ulrich says it'll be Sunday tomorrow (a morning to sleep in), so it's Sunday the 18th of June.

Episode #51 Revelation happens on Thursday the 29th of June because Ulrich, Aelita and Odd are talking about their grade point averages, and they had exams between #50 Contact and this episode. Also, the heroes don't seem stressed about classes because they won't have any more of them.

Episode #52 The Key takes place on Friday the 30th of June because it's the end-of-year dance and Jeremy says he spent the night watching Waldo's diary.

Between seasons

Sunday 20 August: Ulrich and Odd go on holidays

For the date that Ulrich and Odd go on holidays, it's because we hear Ulrich say at the start of #53 Straight to Heart, "Two weeks without us! Not too long?" So they must have left around Sunday the 20th of August.

Season 3 (September to December 2006)

Monday 4 September: #53 Straight to Heart: Hiroki and Johnny arrive at Kadic
Monday 18 September: #54 Lyoko Minus One
From #55 Tidal Wave to #58 The Pretender: September/October 2006
Monday 6 November: #59 The Secret
From #60 Temporary Insanity to #61 Sabotage: November 2006
Friday 1 to Saturday 2 December: #62 Nobody in Particular
Monday 4, Tuesday 5, Thursday 7 or Friday 8 December: #63 Triple Trouble
Tuesday 12 December: Start of #64 Double Trouble
Wednesday 13 December: End of #64 Double Trouble and start of #65 Final Round
Thursday 14 December: End of #65 Final Round

For episode #53 Straight to Heart, it's the first day back at school, so Monday the 4th of September 2006.

For episode #54 Lyoko Minus One, class representative elections take place towards the end of the 2nd week after school returns (info courtesy of Dede7).

As for episodes #55 Tidal Wave to #58 The Pretender, no identifying information for the timeline.

As for #59 The Secret, we can deduce from the events that happened meanwhile and the presentation on World War I that Aelita and Jeremy had to do (which would have been very long if they hadn't read through it at super speed for Mr Fumet), they shouldn't have only had 1 or 2 days to do the work, so they must have done it over the All Saints' Day holidays 2006. So I made it Monday the 6th of November.

As for episodes #60 Temporary Insanity and #61 Sabotage, no hints at the timeline.

For episode #62 Nobody in Particular, it must take place at the start of December. Jeremy tells Ulrich (in Kiwi's body) they don't have class that afternoon, so it must be Saturday the 2nd of December.

For episode #63 Triple Trouble, it can't be on a Wednesday because there are no classes on a Wednesday afternoon, nor a Saturday because the 9th grade students don't have class that day.

For episode #64 Double Trouble, seeing as it's almost Christmas holidays, it starts on Tuesday the 12th and finishes on Wednesday the 13th as they only seem to have class in the morning.

For episode #65 Final Round, the episode starts a few hours after the events of the previous episode, and the rest of it happens on the next day, a special day dedicated to the inter-school skate competition (homage to #21 Zero Gravity Zone no doubt).

Season 4 (December 2006 to June 2007)

Wednesday 20, Thursday 21 to Friday 22 December: #66 William Returns
Du 8 to 12 January 2007: #67 Double Take
From #68 Première partie à #72 Crash Course: January 2007
Thursday 1 February 2007: #73 Replika
Saturday 3 February 2007: #74 I'd Rather Not Talk About It
Friday 9 February 2007: #75 Hot Shower
Saturday 3 March: #76 The Lake
Monday 5 March: 9th grade students return from the lake
From #77 Lost at Sea to #79 Bragging Rights: During March 2007
Monday 26 March: #80 Dog Day Afternoon
Thursday 29 March: #81 A Lack of Goodwill
Saturday 31 March: #82 Distant Memory
From the 2nd week of April: #83 Hard Luck
From #84 Guided Missile to #88 Cousins Once Removed: April/May 2007
Thursday 31 May: #89 Music to Soothe the Savage Beast
Monday 4 June: #90 Wrong Exposure
Wednesday 6 June: #91 Bad Connection
Thursday 7 to Friday 8 June: #92 Cold Sweat
Monday 11 June: #93 Down to Earth
Monday 18 June: #94 Fight to the Finish: XANA is destroyed, Waldo Schaeffer sacrifices himself
Tuesday 19 June: #95 Echoes: Supercomputer shut down

For episode #66 William Returns, it should begin on Wednesday the 20th before midnight (or else the principal wouldn't have answered the phone) and then the next day is Thursday the 21st. This fits with what Jeremy says, "In fact, Aelita and I have worked on it every night for the last week." When Jim goes to see Odd in the boys' bathroom (to show him the Kadic News), it must be morning because Odd is in his pyjamas, so it's Friday the 22nd.

For episode #67 Double Take, given that the end of the Christmas holidays 2006 was on 8/1/2007, the episode must have taken place during the first week back.

As for episodes #68 Opening Act to #72 Crash Course, no hints at the timeline.

Episode #73 Replika happens at the start of February and knowing that the next episode is on a Saturday, it probably happens on Thursday the 1st because in the cafeteria scene, the heroes are eating lunch.

Episode #74 I'd Rather Not Talk About It happens on Saturday 3/2/3007 because Jim says, "Can't a man have a little peace and quiet even on a Saturday?"

For episode #75 Hot Shower, the zone C February holidays were from the 17th of February to the 4th of March, overlapping the zone A ones (10th to 25th of February), so it happens on Friday the 9th of February.

For episode #76 The Lake, Ulrich says Yumi has two tests on a Saturday morning, so it's Saturday the 3rd of March.

Monday the 5th of March was the day when the 9th graders came back from the camping trip at the lake, given that Ms Hertz said they would be there for 2 days.

As for episodes #77 Lost at Sea to #79 Bragging Rights, no hints to the timeline.

For episode #81 A Lack of Goodwill, according to what Tamiya says to William's clone, "We're not gonna get anything out of him. He's been like a vegetable for months now," it must take place before Easter holidays, so a few days after the previous one.

For episode #82 Distant Memory, zone C Easter holidays were from the 7th to the 22nd of April, but this can't be right because Yumi tells her mother the holiday is a week long. The zone A holidays (the 31st of March to the 15th of April) would allow us to say episode 82 happens on Saturday the 31st of March. As for those who say it's not the Easter holidays at all, they're completely wrong, especially Moonscoop. Because if the episode took place during the Christmas holidays, we would have seen Christmas decorations at Kadic (buildings, main entrance, Yumi's house, Christmas trees), which wasn't the case, and no one mentions Christmas at all, so it must be Easter holidays; people sometimes give out gifts on Easter. The episode synopsis contains a chronological error.

For episode #83 Superstition, it must take place a few days after the end of the Easter holidays, so around the 2nd week of April.

As for episodes #84 Guided Missile to #88 Cousins Once Removed, no hints to the timeline.

For episode #89 Music to Soothe the Savage Beast, it must take place at the end of May, so Thursday the 31st of May.

For episode #90 Wrong Exposure, it must happen at the start of the week, so Monday the 4th of June, which was 2 days off from 13 years since Aelita and Waldo left the Hermitage to go to Lyoko.

For episode #91 Bad Connection, since Odd's short film screening is in the morning (or Ulrich wouldn't have been waiting outside the door in a towel), it's possible Odd might have asked the school for a class cancellation so he could do the screening, so it's Wednesday the 6th of June.

For episode #92 Cold Sweat, it must happen the next day, so Thursday the 7th and then Friday the 8th of June.

For episode #93 Down to Earth, taking into account Odd's line about Aelita and Jeremy spending their weekend working, it's Monday the 11th of June.

For episode #94 Fight to the Finish, taking into account Aelita saying Jeremy had been working for a week, it's Monday the 18th of June.

For episode #95 Echoes, it takes place the next day, otherwise we wouldn't have seen them in the cafeteria at breakfast, so Tuesday the 19th of June.

CL Evolution (September 2007 to...)

Start of September 2007: #1 XANA 2.0: Lyoko Warriors go back to school

For #1 XANA 2.0, it must take place at the start of September because Aelita, Jeremy, Ulrich and Odd are going into 10th grade and Yumi and William are in 11th. School went back on Monday the 3rd of September but we have no idea of when the episode actually takes place, so I estimate it to be around the first week of the month.

CL Chronicles (September 2007 to...)

December 2007/January 2008: The Underground Castle/The Nameless City/The Return of the Phoenix/The Army of Nothing
Tuesday 18 December: 1) XANA resurfaces in the Sea of Japan. 2) Aelita loses her memory.
